I’ve mentioned before that, since purchasing a house didn’t work out, I’m using (part of) this year’s annual bonus to get some furniture. I’m still waiting on the last set of swatches that I requested but in the meantime I went ahead and called them on Friday to verify a couple of prices and ask a question about something in the discount area.
“I’ll be calling in an order next week,” I mentioned. “I’m just trying to decide about the fabric. I want something pretty but with a nice tight weave.”
You must have pets, she answered.
“Yeah…?”
Put the swatches down on the floor and let them play with them. Then see what they look like after a day or two.
“They’ll probably be shreds. My cats have their claws.”
Mine do too. I always suggest people do that. You can decide which ones will work best then.
Long pause. I had so not thought about that.
“Can I get your name for when I call back last week?”
The swatches I already have are on the floor in the living room right now (and Emily has indeed adopted one). The other set will go down as soon as I manage to get to the post office; they’re likely already in my p.o. box but the toe situation means I haven’t made it there recently.
And heck, yes, I took down her name…
