Day Zero Reboot: Week 2

The List: http://sonria.org/blog/2017/day-zero-2017-20/

In my own defense, it was a weird week this week too, which is why I didn’t get a whole lot done on the Day Zero Reboot project. Maybe starting it right across the Independence Day holiday wasn’t the greatest of ideas, but there really wasn’t any other way for me to have it end on the date it does. (In fact, I’d actually written the list about a month before I started the project, but delayed the start so that I could have it end then.)

But it’s time for an end to the excuses, and I didn’t get nothing done this week.

50. Set up a workable home office.

A couple of months ago, all of our monitors and keyboards were replaced at work. When I found out that they were simply going to dispose of the old ones, I asked if there was any reason I couldn’t have a set. There wasn’t, so I did. I brought them home on June 30th and actually set them up on the following Monday, July 3.

I’m still using a ThinkPad E540 as my main computer, but I think I’m going to end up being better off with a keyboard and monitor; and if I ever do need a second screen, I can turn the laptop’s back on for however long it might take.

This doesn’t finish the home office, of course, but it’s a big step in the right direction.

94. Get a pedicure.

My First Pedicure

My First Pedicure

This is the first item I get to mark off the list! On Friday, I went over for my regular leg waxing appointment, and decided to get a pedicure too. This was the first time I’d ever done this, but I was in the hands of folks I trust (they’ve been doing both my nails and my legs for a while).

It was an…interesting…experience, and although I sat under the dryer for a good fifteen minutes, when I got home I discovered that the left big toe still wasn’t quite dry: the polish had wrinkled. Of course, since I don’t own any open-toed shoes, that doesn’t matter; I’m still just impressed that they managed to paint all ten toenails given that several of them are badly misshapen.

I haven’t decided whether I’m going to do this again, but if I do, it likely won’t be very often. I don’t regret trying it, though.

99. Make a weekly update each Saturday.

Two weeks down; two weekly updates. So I’m still on track for being able to scratch this one off the list as well! Now I just need to make sure there are some actual updates.
