Welcome
Thank you for visiting!
I’m a thirtysomething, semi-crazy cat lady, currently living and working in the Atlanta metro area although I’m originally from eastern North Carolina. Yes, I have an accent, although I’m told it’s pretty mild. No, I’m not a redneck — although I’ll firmly correct anyone who even suggests barbecue might be red.
By formal profession, I am an employee benefits specialist. I started working in human resources in 1996 and moved into this sub-field in early 1999. I later took a few years off, but returned as a contractor in 2011 and secured regular employment in January 2012. I’ve worked in both the government and small business sectors. You can find more details on my résumé.
During my off-hours I enjoy photography, reading, writing, hiking, travel and cross-stitch.
I’ve operated sonria.org since late 2003 and it has gone through several incarnations, primarily as a blog. At the moment, however, the blog is on hiatus although an archive is still online. I may or may not decide to re-start it in the future; it’ll depend on a lot of factors.
The name of the domain (and the site) is taken from the Spanish word sonría, which is the command form of the verb “to smile.” I administer it using WordPress, a simple theme of my own design, and several plugins.
Please feel free to take a look around and, if you’re so inclined, drop me a line. I’m always looking for new online friends. Thanks again for your visit!
